   Résumé
   Un groupe d'amis monte un scénario surprise pour mystifier un auteur dramatique à court d'inspiration. La vie quotidienne et l'imaginaire se mêlent dans une aventure qui mettra Douglas Fairbanks, dans un double rôle, aux prises avec une galerie de personnages insolites.
   Commentaire
   Il s'agit d'un des meilleurs films interprétés par Douglas Fairbanks pour la «Triangle», la compagnie animée par Griffith, Ince et Mack Sennett. Tourné en extérieurs à New York et Los Angeles, il combine avec humour la réalité prosaïque et la fiction, comme le feront plus tard – à leur manière – Buster Keaton dans Sherlock Junior et Woody Allen dans la Rose pourpre du Caire. En 1920, John Ford tournera un remake de ce film à succès, sous le titre The Girl in Number 29.
